It has actually gotten worse recently because apple got rid of the anti-aliasing subpixel which means if you don't have a 4k monitor (which i don't) then when you zoom in too far everything looks all pixelated because it's capped at the 1080p resolution instead of just upscaling when you zoom in like it used to do. It doesn't have as many options and just isn't anywhere near as smooth. Like i love the design and the way the system feels in general, and yeah Windows has a built-in Magnifier now, but it's horribly janky when you put it next to the Mac's. I was like, well if i can just zoom in and out like this then I can actually use this computer. I'll never forget the day I saw the silver & black iMacs at Best Buy, walked up to it purely out of curiosity, and went through the process of opening system preferences out of curiosity, finding the accessibility section, finding the zoom option, and zoomed in for the first time. Back in the days of WinXP it was a program called ZoomText that would let you zoom the whole screen in. It used to be that I needed special expensive software to be able to use a computer. I'm legally blind from retina damage so i have to have everything really big on the screen (no, glasses don't help my condition). The thing that permanently distinguished macOS for me is the accessibility features.
